Dianne’s Ride Journey On…
June 6, 2026
Dianne’s Ride is a celebration of a life lived with humor, resilience, and a deep love for life's journey. Dianne had a way of making people smile no matter the circumstances. She always reminded us to keep moving forward, signing off with her signature words: 'Journey On…' This fundraising ride is in her memory, and we invite you to join us for a day of cycling and fun as we work toward a world without Alzheimer's. All proceeds from this ride will benefit the Alzheimer’s Association.
The Experience
We believe in the power of bikes to bring a community together. Through this ride, we have the opportunity to do what we love to bring an end to Alzheimer’s. You can expect a day full of fun, camaraderie, and a shared sense of mission. This is a ride, not a race. You are free to ride as leisurely or as fast as you’d like, but there will be no timing chips, no race plates, just a day to enjoy the journey together.
Gather at the historic Lumberyard at Paint Creek [215 S. Broadway St. Lake Orion] trailhead and choose from a 9 mile ride on the Paint Creek trail or 44 and 81 mile routes on beautiful gravel roads. You’ll find aid stations available on the longer routes and a celebration with snacks and refreshments as you finish.
While you can technically start on your own, we are encouraging riders to start together at the following times: 81 milers at 6:30, 44 milers at 9:30 and 9 milers at 11:30. Use the buttons below to download the routes!

Dianne was born in the 9th month of 1944 and lost her battle to Alzheimer’s at 81 years old. These distances are in celebration of her life.
-
Absolutely! We want everyone to have fun on bikes! A gravel bike, mountain bike or e-bike will be your best choice. A road bike could work for the Paint Creek Trail, but we don’t recommend it for the longer routes.
-
Definitely! Stop into Lake Orion Bike & Adventure Company to reserve a rental bike for the day and we’ll have it for you at the Lumberyard that morning.
-
Helmets are mandatory! You’ll also want a water bottle (or two!) with something to drink, a bike in good working order, and comfortable riding gear. We always recommend riding with a flat kit and something to pump a tire with - if you have questions, stop in the shop and ask. Remember on ride day there are a lot of friendly riders ready to lend a helping hand if you are new!
-
Yes, for the 44 and 81 mile routes! The 44 mile route will feature at least one aid station with snacks and water and the 81 mile route will have two aid stations.
-
No, you must follow the rules of the road and use caution when proceeding through a road crossing.
-
We encourage every rider to download the route map before taking off, but the route will be marked before ride day. There will not be any volunteers at intersections so check your map and look for route markings.
-
Great question! Limited parking will be available at the Lumberyard trailhead. Close and convenient parking is available at the Children’s Park parking lot (P4 on this map). It is just a quick walk or ride past the horseshoe pits, over the creek (turn left off the bridge) and around the corner to the trailhead.
